Grilled Cheesus

In this episode of Glee, the characters go through their different beliefs with religion. It all starts out with Finn making a grilled cheese and it comes out with a burnt spot in the shape of Jesus' face. He decides that he can't throw it away, and I mean who would? I'm not very religious and I still wouldn't be able to eat it or throw it away without being scared about my near future. But he prays to his sandwich, which he calls Grilled Cheesus, and his first prayer was "answered." To repay the favor, Finn wants the Glee club to dedicate an entire week to singing about Jesus.

Now everybody has really mixed feelings about this. Rachel and especially Kurt seem to not like this idea. However Mercedes and Quinn are all for it. And then out of nowhere Puck starts to sing "Only the Good Die Young" by Billy Joel, which was really good. Or that could just be my bias because I find Puck extremely cute.

Later, Kurt finds out from Schuester and Emma that his father is in the hospital. He had a heart attack and was now in a coma with no idea when he would regain consciousness. Kurt is really taken back by his father's medical issues. With Kurt's father in the hospital, it leaves him to take care of himself which would be scary for any teenager.

The next day at school, all the kids feel really bad for Kurt and none of them really know what to say. Mercedes realizes that she wants to sing to Kurt to offer her condolences. She sings "I Look to You" by Whitney Houston which was really good and gave me chills. Kurt appreciated the song but he states that he doesn't believe in God. Everybody in the glee club is shocked that he would admit that. He then tells them that he doesn't want them to pray for him and walks away.

Finn prays to his grilled cheesus again since it worked the first time. He prays that Rachel will let him touch her boobs. After school, Rachel stops by Finn's house to talk to him about his new found love with Jesus. She states that if they end up "going the distance" with their relationship, she wants her children to be raised Jewish. Finn agrees with her..even though it seems like he doesn't really care about what she is talking about. They start kissing and Rachel allows Finn to touch her boobs. It is very apparent that Finn is really excited about it and thanks Grilled Cheesus.

Sue is really upset that Schuester is allowing the children to sing about God. She uses Kurt as a way to stop what is going on in the glee club. She makes Kurt file a complain to the school which makes it so the kids can no longer sing about God which makes them very upset.

Rachel then gets her chance to sing her song later that night with Finn. She sings "Papa Can You Hear Me" originally sang by Barbara Streisand. In the middle of the song, the scene changes to her singing it to Kurt's dad. Kurt walks in when she is done and stops her and others from the glee club from singing. He wants to try acupuncture to wake his father and asks everyone to leave.

Finn prays to Grilled Cheesus for the third time. He prays that he will become quarterback. At the next game, Finn changes the play that Coach Beiste wanted. Sam ends up dislocating his elbow and Finn is now the quarterback again. The next day at school, Schuester congratulates him and everybody else joins in.

Right when this is going on, Kurt walks in and thanks everyone for what they have been doing. Kurt then sings the song "I Want to Hold Your Hand" by The Beatles in memory of a time that him and his father shared at Kurt's mother's funeral. I thought that the song was sung very well. There was even this montage during it that showed Kurt and his father many years ago and somehow they ended up finding a little boy who resembles Kurt almost perfectly. I thought that it was crazy that they could seem so accurate.

Later, Mercedes invites Kurt to her church that weekend; she had the service dedicated to his dad. After fighting against it, Kurt agrees to go. When they are there, Mercedes sings "Bridge Over Troubled Water" with her choir. At first, Kurt seems really out of place but one of the members gets him to stand up and he looks as though he really liked it.

Sometime after Kurt's church experience, he is at the hospital talking to his father. He apologizes for not allowing the kids pray for him. Kurt starts confessing what he believes in to his father when he realizes that his father's fingers are moving.

The show ends with the glee club singing "What if God Was One of Us." Sue walks in and is no longer upset with them singing about God after a touching conversation with her mentally handicapped sister.
